Hummingbirds - Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Jesus is behind all I do as a photographer. I feel the Lord reveals Himself to me through His nature and feel this is a gift that allows me to see the raw beauty of creation through His eyes. He even allowed me to photograph two miracles at once! To view this amazing photograph, go to my "About Judy" page.

My favorite subject to photograph is bears, but I also love to photograph all wildlife, flowers, and birds—especially hummingbirds:) I also created the Hummingbird Trail at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, I teach a class about hummingbirds and the trail, and I also lead Hummingbird Trail walks:)

Patience

One of the keys to wildlife photography is patience. When I find a hummingbird's perch, I know he/she will come back time after time.

Sometimes I only have to wait a few minutes, but more than likely it is 15-30 minutes or longer. It is a time of being still, quiet, and focusing on the perch while waiting.

I noticed a couple ahead of me looking at something. When they left, I went to see what they were looking at.

To my delight, I found this hummingbird's favorite perch was this dead flower. He did not mind my presence and would fly away but come back time and time again.

I kept adjusting my tripod and camera to get the perfect background. I wanted him sandwiched in between the flowers.
